HAWAII

For our 20th wedding anniversary, Bill and I went to Hawaii. We enjoyed looking at the different trees and plants growing on Oahu.

We visited the temple grounds, but the temple is undergoing a complete renovation and looks like an old ruin. At the visitor's center we ran into a man who used to be a Utah tv weatherman when Bill was young.

We tried to enjoy the Polynesian Cultural Center, but it was made a little difficult by the rain. I'm talking "Little House on the Prairie" type rain where all of a sudden the clouds roll in and open up like they are drawing the water directly from the ocean and dumping it on you. It wouldn't have been so bad had it been warmer, but it is always our luck to go someplace "warm" and end up freezing.

We went snorkeling and visited Pearl Harbor. That was a very interesting tour. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, especially when eating chocolate cake from the Cheesecake Factory.

Happy Birthday, Patrick!

Patrick's birthday is April 13, but we celebrated it a day early since he and Kayla were here with us. We went to Stake Conference where Karl spoke on the topic, "Here am I, send me." He did a great job.

Easter

We have a tradition that the Easter bunny comes on Saturday so Sunday is a day to focus on Jesus Christ and his resurrection. The Easter bunny actually hid the eggs in our basement this year!

Karl goes to Prom!

Prom started with breakfast and games. They took the afternoon off and regrouped around 5 p.m.

This was Karl's first experience with a tux. He's the kind of guy who hates going into stores and hates making clothing decisions. Renting a tux with him was a whole lotta fun. I think he cleans up nicely!

Karl and Breanna

After pictures by Lillian Nielsen, they had dinner at another friend's house and then took off to the prom. Prom was held in the capitol building in Salt Lake. They had a good time and were home by curfew!

Kayla's bridal shower

Kayla's roommate threw her a bridal shower. It was a day full of other bridal showers as it was nearing the end of the semester at BYU-I do. Good food and good fun! Thanks Taura!

Will you go to prom with me?

Karl asked a girl from his band to prom. She answered him with this bouquet of balloons.

Karl was at a birthday party when it was delivered. I called him and told him he had a message on the front porch. When he told his friends, they said, "Ooo, you have a 'yes' answer." They all walked him home and watched him pop the balloons to find his answer. The answer was something like, "I would love to 'float' away with you to prom." It was cute.

Alecia is 14!

My little Alecia is now 14 and wearing makeup. Her birthday was so busy we didn't even have a cake for her. There wasn't a time when the whole family was together on her birthday. Most of the busyness was on her part with clarinet sectionals before school, homework, clogging, basketball, etc. I hope she felt special on her day. I know her friends and teachers remembered her. That girl raked in the candy!
