Alex and I attended the Bountiful, Utah, Handcart Days Parade. Alecia has been in Colorado all week at Drum Major Academy. They were supposed to be home in time for the parade to start. They landed just before the parade started, so the Davis High band began without drum majors. I saw Alecia running to catch up and yelled my encouragement.
The final entry of the parade was the 2,000 stripling warriors. They
were all in simple costume and carried walking sticks. The captains had
tall staffs with flags and were situated in a column down the middle.
They signaled a halt right in front of us, and Captain Moroni started a
cadence.
They all pounded their sticks and then raised them and shouted
in unison, "We did not doubt!" It was awesome. They began their march
again and tapped their sticks as they went. They just kept coming and
coming.
And then they kept coming and coming some more. There were a
few in motorized wheelchairs. The last 2-3 lines of warriors were
missionaries with their name tags displayed on their costumes. It was
super cool!
