Anderson Reunion Day 2

Bill and Alex had play practice most of the day, and Alecia had a parade, so we were late getting to the reunion.  Water balloon volleyball was a hit.  We sure went through a lot of water balloons!

Whitney and her cute belly.
The most popular thing to do was the water slide.  The kids, young and old, had a blast for hours!
We had a family sing-along, which has always been one of my favorite reunion activities because everyone has such nice voices.  Thanks to Aunt Linda and her family for a fantastic reunion!

Parade Season

This year Alecia marched in the Centerville Parade.  Davis High has an impressive marching band.  I'm glad she gets to be a part of it.

Lynn Anderson Reunion 2011

The Lynn Anderson Reunion was held in Lehi, Utah, on July 1-2, 2011.  Aunt Linda and her family were in charge.  They did a fabulous job.  Kathy and Mychal were on the communications committee, Frank and Mary were over the food, and Darla and Renae were over games and activities.  At meal times the children of Lynn and Rosamond were invited to share memories of their parents.  Grandkids could also do some sharing.  Aunt Sylvia told us about finding some quilt squares that Grandma Rose had just stacked up in her sewing room.  Aunt Sylvia took those and made what she called her "healing quilt" after she finished with chemo.  These squares were from Great-Grandma Amy's time and had been hand embroidered and signed by those who made them.  Grandma's four squares are now in each corner of the quilt.  It is beautiful.

I don't know why Loretta is pointing up and looking down.  That's how I look when I'm wearing my reading glasses and have to see something at a distance.

We played some super fun games.  We had water balloon volleyball, regular volleyball, and team games.  Here is a game called Pip, Squeak, and Wilbur.

 Water balloon toss
Then we had messy fun.  The kids put a piece of bubble gum in a bowl and then covered it with whipped cream.  They had to put their faces in the cream, find the gum, chew it, and then blow a bubble.

After dinner Darla made the Aunts and Uncles lie!!!!  There was an scenario that actually happened to a sibling, but each had to persuade us that it had happened to them.  The men of the family are pretty good story tellers.  They certainly had us laughing!  We then did name that tune with kazoos and had a devotional.

Overall a super fun day!

Father's Day

Bill is the Young Men's President in our ward.  He went to youth conference with Karl and Alecia this year.  They went to Snow College and had a great time, except for the bed bugs and breaking some ribs.  For Father's Day we replaced the things he threw away from the bed bug incident.  Not a very special gift-receiving experience--sorry.  Alecia and Alex made him a special Father's Day story.  It was a cute pop-up book.  On the back it gave the following credits:
Story by Alecia
Pictures by Alex
Book made by Alecia
Book made fun of by Karl.

Karl Graduates from High School!

Karl graduated from Davis High School in a class of 712 students.  He received a high honors cord, honors cord, school of business merit cord, and school of science, technology, and math merit cord.  Graduation was held at Weber State.  He did a fabulous job during his high school career.  He was involved in the marching band, film club, science olympiad, academic olympiad, tutoring, and 7 AP classes.  His ACT score the second time he took it was 35.  He wanted to go for a perfect 36, but I wouldn't let him.  He worked hard to get straight A's every quarter.  There were a few teachers who depended on him to teach other students who were not catching on.  Sometimes his tests were used as the key to grade the others.  We are so very proud of his accomplishments and all of the growth we have seen in him over the years.  He is such a wonderful young man who is respectful and kind and usually humble.  Congratulations, Karl!  Great job!

Bill's 44th Birthday

Bill was on a diet during his birthday, so he asked for sugar-free pudding instead of cake.  I layered chocolate pudding with white chocolate pudding, let it set, and then put a few candles in it.  We all enjoyed it even though it wasn't cake.

Blaze Game

We had the kids invite some friends and then went to a Blaze indoor arena football game.  I have never been to an event like this before.  It was rather interesting.  Alex and McKay loved it.  There was a young lady sitting next to us  who, if she wasn't texting, was up out of her seat dancing.  It was quite comical to watch.  Alex and McKay were on the jumbo-tron eight times.  They thought that was so cool!

Mother's Day

I really don't enjoy having my picture taken.  I especially don't like my double chin when I look down to open gifts from my loving family.  This is the only picture I will allow from this year's event.  Alex made me a card with a poem he made up.  Here is the poem:

Mom, I want you to know how much we love you,
You make our hearts dance with joy!

You are our sun, our own light,
Dad must be glad that he's a boy!

When it's time to open gifts,
Remember to never say nay,
Christ & God sent me to you,
Happy Mother's day!
